Hole in the Wall Project
The Hole in the Wall Playground learning center is a really interesting project created by Dr. Sugata Mintra on how kids can be empowered to learn when given the opportunity to access technology, without teacher interference! Dr. Mintra collected data on how children in India learn using technology when playground learning stations were provided with Internet access. The results were pretty amazing. Kids started using the computer and exploring the Internet, without adult interference, at their own pace in collaboration with other kids. So cool!

It made me think about how much I tend to want to control discussion/activity in the classroom, oh it's hard to give up the reins! Really fascinating stuff. Check out the link below... or view the Ted talk video.

Makes you wonder, why we are sometimes so hesitant to justify spending money on technology for education, when you see projects like this. Another hmmmmmmm moment.....
