We should care about the oil spill because for one reason. The pollution in the ocean/coastline habitats. Another one is the poison/toxins impacting the wild life. Also, the waste of the precious oil resource. In addition, the fishery industries can’t do their jobs. With the oil spill running, the wildlife will be in chaos.
The pollution in the ocean/coastline habitats, the ocean plants get covered in oil; they can’t get any sun light. We won’t be able to breathe oxygen because they can’t help absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Also the toxins on the water make the appearance look unappealing and that would include a foul odor to stench up the oceans top. It's not just a surface spill, but an underground one as well.
Also, the poisons and toxins are going to impact the oceans severely. Mammals – us – drink the water from the ocean, but it’s filtered. But it still could get polluted. Think about the fish and birds. The fish can’t breathe because the waters are dirty and their gills would be clogged. The bird species can’t eat the fish because they’ll be too dirty to eat. By the cause of the oil spill, we’re wasting more of our oil resources and polluting our waters more. Since we can’t re-sell the oil that’s trapped, there will be more oil demands in Canada; then there will be anywhere else in the world. The oil could have been used for something more environmental. It can’t anymore; we’re not able to get the oil.
The fishery industry can’t do their jobs. The fish will swim away, or even worse, die. No one will be able to eat the fish. Who would want to eat oil-covered fish? Certainly not me. People who love seafood can’t eat them anymore. Also the tourist spots near the oceans. They’ll be out of business because of the oil spill. Nobody would want to go there. People who work there won’t make any money and will go poor. Who would want to go to a polluted beach? These are a couple reasons why we SHOULD care about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The pollution, poisons, waste of resource. What will happen to our future? Us all living in oil covered homes?
