Welcome all! The following is information for HOMEWORK HELP for classes with Ms. Stewart-Mitchell... Note all homework is posted on the HOME PAGE of this blog.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS - See the Homepage for homework in ELA as well as links and pages from our lessons.

DEAR (Independent Reading) and AR PROGRAM (AR - Accelerated Reader Program)

A mark for participation in AR as well as time spent silent reading and engaging in READING WITH UNDERSTANDING will be included on the Reportcard. Students must read books within a certain "colour level range" (see the dots on the spine of the books in our Library), then complete a minimum of ONE Star Test every 3 weeks (allowances are made after discussion with Ms. S-M). Be sure to print your results and track your own progress in the AR Binder (in the classroom). Students are encouraged to set goals based on their reading level (this is determined based on an initial STAR test).

GRAMMAR /D.O.L. - Weekly assignments completed in class.

FRENCH - Please see the home page of my blog for assignments for French Class and the French Resources Link for more assistance or lessons.

TESTS AND QUIZZES...

Get all quizzes and tests signed. This is an expectation and a mark. Besides it's always best that your parents hear about how you're doing from YOU!

IN REGARDS TO OVERDUES...

Overdue Assignments - ALWAYS POSTED IN THE CLASSROOM, STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO WRITE THESE REMINDERS IN THEIR AGENDA... Students are required to write their overdues in their Agenda. Talk to your child about making sure they keep up with assignments... and use their Agenda so that he or she can track their own assignments and be accountable for their own learning. This is a necessary skill as we prepare for high school... and life.

Really there are NO EXCUSES for incomplete assignments. Every student is given ample time to complete assignments, get help if needed, and opportunities to catch up (without penality for lateness) if they are sick or miss school. Assignments are routinely added to this blog...

By the time students reach grade 8 they need to be accountable for their assignments and make an effort to prepare for tests.

Please review the Procedures page and Grade 8 Overview page for more information on Expectations in our classroom.
